Retirement Scenario Modeler
A free retirement calculator that answers “do I have enough to
retire?” by projecting every account you own, year by year, against what
you plan to spend. It runs entirely in your own browser, which is why it needs
JavaScript enabled — there is no server doing the math, and no account to
create.
It opens with a short guided setup — your age, when you want to retire, the accounts
you hold and roughly what you expect to spend — and builds the projection from
that. Every figure stays editable afterwards.
How it works is an ordinary page, readable without
JavaScript: every assumption behind the projection, what each tab does, how each
type of account is grown and taxed, and where the model simplifies.
What it models
-
Year-by-year balances for pre-tax 401(k)/403(b)/457(b)/TSP, Roth, IRA, HSA,
taxable brokerage, pensions and rental property.
-
Social Security at a claiming age you choose, with full inflation COLA;
pensions with optional partial COLA.
-
Required Minimum Distributions from age 73, covering pre-tax and governmental
457(b) balances.
-
Monte Carlo simulation over randomised annual returns, for a probability that
the plan survives rather than a single deterministic number.
-
Your current contributions against an editable savings plan, and named
scenarios (“retire at 60” vs “retire at 65”) compared
side by side.
Your data
Everything you enter stays in this browser's local storage. Nothing is sent
anywhere unless you separately choose the paid tier, which adds cloud sync of
the same figures across devices. Every projection, scenario and Monte Carlo
feature is free and needs no signup.
All figures are estimates produced from assumptions you supply — return
rate, inflation, tax rates — and are not guarantees or individualized
financial, tax or legal advice.
